Become a Board of Directors Member
At Kenora – Rainy River Districts Child and Family Services (KRRCFS) we work to create an environment in which children are safe, and families are strong.
We are currently looking to recruit new members for appointment to our Board of Directors. Applicants must live or work in the Kenora or Rainy River Districts, and be able to commit to a three-year term. Board member positions are voluntary.
Prospective Board members should have a strong commitment to the well-being of children and families.
Responsibilities of Board Members:
· Responsible for the effective governance and strategic leadership of KRRCFS
· Influence the KRRCFS strategic plan
· Participate in monthly Board meetings and the Annual Meeting
· Participate as a member on at least one Board committee
· Commit time as required to fulfil the responsibilities of a Board member
· Executive Director performance management and succession planning
We encourage candidates with:
· Experience with not-for-profit organizations
· Strong networking and communication skills
· Lived experience as a former youth in care
· Competency in one or more of the following areas is an asset
o Organizational management
o Financial management
o Policy development
o Strategic planning
o Accounting
o Public relations
o Human resources
o Legal experience
The Board meets monthly, except July and August. As volunteers, Directors commit approximately eight (8) to twelve (12) hours per month for Board and committee work. Some travel is required.
